Roy Nelson’s fists shake Middle-Earth and knock out Matt Mitrione

Well, the TUF 16 finale was awesome. Tonight we were reminded that Poirier is a force, Guillard/Varner II (if it goes down) will be way more fascinating than the illness-ruining original. We were reminded why heavyweights are so damn fun to watch, and finally it was brought front and center that Dwarves are the most superior hand to hand fighters on Middle-Earth outside of Orcs. Roy Nelson once again used his formidable fists to bring another fighter crumbling to the ground, and it was pretty damn impressive.

Despite some cringe-worthy kicks leaving welts all over Nelson’s right arm, it was fairly obvious from the beginning that Mitrione wasn’t going to be able to do much to Roy. Eventually Nelson was able to get through Meathead’s defenses and landing a combo begun by a slick uppercut to finish Mitrione.

Nelson then smiles and acknowledges the fact that he’s only been striking for about three years and shimmies out of the Octagon, victorious.
