  • The 39-year-old is planning to make an epic UFC return this year

Known for his random tirades, Nick Diaz shocked his fans on social media with his recent post. In it, the former Strikeforce champion accused the UFC of messing up his prime years in the sport along with his chances of becoming a UFC champion.

It’s someone’s fault

On Instagram, Diaz took a jab at the UFC, strongly suggesting the promotion let him down when the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended him for five years after his fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 183 for a failed drug test.

“These motherf**kers are lucky…. I got fu**ked over my whole career. Otherwise, I [would] have had the UFC belt by now, maybe both of them.”

It can be recalled that Diaz was the reigning Strikeforce welterweight champion when the promotion was purchased by the UFC in 2011. Under the UFC banner, Diaz was handed a shot to compete for the 170-pound strap twice but failed to cop the title. One against Carlos Condit and one against Georges St-Pierre.

After the loss to Silva, which was later overturned to No Contest, Diaz had a six-year hiatus and made a herculean effort to return in 2021. Sadly, Diaz lost to Robbie Lawler in their rematch at UFC 266.

The return

Diaz may still be a little bitter about how his career panned out in the last several years, but he has made it clear that he’s making an epic UFC return.

The 39-year-old has vowed to become a better fighter than he was the last time he stepped inside the Octagon. Diaz is eyeing to fight this year with a tentative plan to take on Israel Adesanya if he manages to reclaim his middleweight belt from Alex Pereira.

On the side, Diaz has been filming his upcoming movie with Hollywood action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, entitled “Darkness of Man.”
