Is it time for a face turn? CM Punk was always fighting an uphill battle when several months after he walked away from the WWE, he abruptly announced he was training for an UFC fight. A pro wrestler? Fighting in the Octagon? Boo! Hiss! Will somebody think of the children?
Starting from scratch, Punk’s journey from zero MMA training to UFC rookie also took longer than expected which only provided more fodder for his critics.
Now thanks to the magic of editing, dramatic background music and maybe some CGI, it’s time for the collective unwashed MMA masses to get behind CM Punk. The UFC commissioned film “The Evolution of Punk” is set to drop next week and with Punk fighting Mickey Gall at UFC 203 next month, so everyone should climb aboard this scrappy underdog hype train before it leaves the station.
