Nate Diaz has turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department after a warrant was issued for the ex-UFC fighter’s arrest following a brawl on Bourbon Street last weekend.

First reported by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, the Stockton native reportedly turned himself over to authorities earlier this morning.

”Nate voluntarily turned himself into the New Orleans Police Department this morning approximately at 7:10 AM CT. We continue to look forward to presenting all the evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense.” -Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield,” Helwani tweeted

Hours later, Helwani offered another update, revealing that a bond had been granted and posted allowing Nate Diaz to return home.

“Bond has been granted and posted with the full permission from the court to resume travel which includes returning to Stockton today. We appreciate how we were treated by the New Orleans Police Department, the court and their staff.” – “Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield”

Per MMA Junkie, Diaz was booked at 7:40 a.m. CT and posted a $10,000 bond before being released.

Nate Diaz’s Night of Mayhem in ‘The Big Easy’

In town for the DAZN Misfits 006 boxing event, Diaz found himself at the forefront of multiple altercations both during and following the event at the XULA Convocation Centre. The Stockton Samurai’s night of debauchery all started when he chucked a water bottle at reality TV star Chase DeMoor who was sitting behind him inside the venue. A brief scuffle broke out but was quickly quelled.

However, once the involved parties were outside of the building, all hell broke loose with DeMoor engaging in a street fight with multiple members of Diaz’s entourage. In a now-viral clip, Diaz can be seen choking an individual who bares a striking resemblance to social media sensation and WWE Superstar Logan Paul. Diaz rendered the young man unconscious before letting him drop to the ground, cracking his head against the concrete.

That video is likely what led the local police department to issue the warrant, charging Nate Diaz with second-degree battery.

If convicted of the charges, Diaz could potentially face a maximum sentence of eight years behind bars and a fine of up to $2,000. This is the prescribed penalty in Louisiana for second-degree battery, the charge that Diaz is currently facing. It remains to be seen how the case will unfold, but the potential consequences are significant. A representative for Diaz revealed that the former UFC standout plans to fight the charges, citing self-defense in the altercation.
