  • Nate Diaz claims Khabib Nurmagomedov had been “scared” of fighting him the entire time
  • The 37-year-old is not impressed with the Russian MMA legend’s Hall of Fame status

After Chael Sonnen claimed that some “inside scoop” says the UFC is working on a Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev fight, Nate himself addressed a few important things in a recent interview.

Khabib didn’t want no smoke

Diaz is a former lightweight title contender with a proven resume in the division. For those who are wondering why he and Khabib Nurmagomedov never faced each other back then, Diaz said the UFC matchmakers wanted it but “The Eagle” had been “scared the whole time.”

“Khabib’s a f**king little b**ch too,” Diaz said in The MMA Hour. “Who did he beat for the title? He got Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. They’ve both been finished off over and over the same way that he beat them. You ain’t no good… You were a scared fighter, scared of fighting the whole time.”

Hall of Fame’s a “joke”

The proud Stockton, California native went on and took a shot at Nurmagomedov’s recent UFC Hall of Fame induction. Of course, in classic Nate fashion.

“And now you’re in the Hall of Fame,” Diaz said of Khabib. “I was here before the Hall of Fame even showed up actually. Now you’re a Hall of Famer. Whatever. I don’t even want nothing to do with the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a joke too.”

As things stand, Diaz is yet to be slated for a fight under the UFC banner. In the same interview though, he said that there was an offer that was “more money than any fighter in the UFC.” However, Nate also stressed that his “main objective” is to leave the company and “move on.”

Until then, let’s hope that Diaz finally pick an opponent and return sooner rather than later.
