The MMA community has backed Mike Perry following his callout for a bare-knuckle boxing match with Jorge Masvidal.

On Saturday night, Perry continued his post-UFC career with another gruesome win without gloves. This time, ‘Platinum’ challenged himself against Eddie Alvarez, who put up a good fight before having his orbital shattered due to Perry’s relentless aggression.

Perry has solidified himself as the face of bare-knuckle boxing by securing wins against Julian Lane, Michael ‘Venum’ Page, Luke Rockhold, and Alvarez. ‘Platinum’ has undoubtedly captured the attention of combat sports fans, making his next opponent a hot topic.

Following his second-round TKO win at BKFC 56, Perry took to Twitter and called out Jorge Masvidal with the following message:

“A definite tough fight, the toughest out there, would be the original bare knuckle boxer, I watched him on kimbofights on YouTube in high school, I know calling him out could open a whole new world between us but man to man for the prize of a lifetime it would be an honor to bare knuckle fight @GamebredFighter”

Earlier today, Mike Perry appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to discuss his impressive win and what’s next. When asked about his Jorge Masvidal callout, Perry explained his reasoning by saying:

“The Masvidal fight is intriguing because he can hurt me bad I think. That’s what gets me up in the morning. That’s what makes me work…We know that Masvidal has some of the most killer moves out there.”

Fans react to Mike Perry calling out Jorge Masvidal

Before becoming a massive superstar, Jorge Masvidal fought in the streets of South Florida alongside Kimbo Slice. Although Masvidal is in a different chapter of his life, a return to bare-knuckle fighting would be quite the sight to see for combat sports fans.

Once Mike Perry called out Masvidal on Twitter, fans flooded the comment section with excitement for the potential must-see matchup:

“This would be insane. Run it”

“Hell yeah I’ll buy that fight”

“I’d buy that card instantly. But Idk if Jorge wants to fight anymore! I wish this was a few years ago”

“Gamebread is too rich for this sh*t”

“D*mn, that’s actually a well thought out and very tough fight. I’m pretty sure he’s done though. But Perry would really be a good fit in Jorge’s BKMMA.”

“That is a legendary call out.”

Jorge Masvidal last fought on April 8, losing by unanimous decision against Gilbert Burns for his fourth consecutive defeat. Shortly after the official decision, Masvidal removed his gloves and retired from MMA.

In the following months, Masvidal has voiced his interest in competing in professional boxing. It’s unclear if he would fight in bare-knuckle moving forward, but the Mike Perry fight will be waiting for him.
