AJ McKee thinks Alexander Volkanovski is a ‘great champion’ but an ‘easy fight’.

The undefeated Bellator Featherweight Champion is headed into his title rematch with Patricio Pitbull at Bellator 277 on April 15th.. He once again wants to prove he’s the best featherweight on the planet. However, it is often hard to dispute that with Volkanovski reigning supreme over there in the UFC Octagon.

An Easy Fight

Regardless of what anyone says, McKee thinks he’s the best 145lber there is. ‘The Mercenary’ also believes a fight with Volkanovski would be an easy task.

“That’s an easy fight,” McKee told Middle Easy. “I would love that fight. That’s why I’ve been speaking upon unifying the belts, getting these cross promotions… I’ve had 19 fights at this point in the Bellator division. I wanna outsource.

“My contract’s coming up to an end. I don’t wanna sign any more huge 6-7 fight deals. I really want to start gearing towards changing the sport and helping it evolve. I got another younger generation that’s to come. King McKee. My little brother’s gonna be next in line. I wanna make sure that that things are lined up properly for him when he steps into that cage. And he doesn’t have to go through the troubles, trials and tribulations that I went through and my father went through in his career.

McKee Wants To Unify The Titles

At this stage of his career, ‘King McKee’ wants more gold. He wants to conquer more territory. And there’s no denying the UFC is the biggest territory there is. Cross promotions aren’t regular in MMA, but McKee wants to ‘unify’ the UFC & Bellator featherweight titles against Volkanovski.

McKee also wouldn’t mind trading shots with Nate Diaz in the cage, given their history

“Maybe we get that unified belt. Maybe I get to fight Nate [Diaz]. Maybe I get to fight Volkanovski. Maybe we get some fun stuff going, but in due time. Volkanovski, he’s a great champ, don’t get me wrong. But, he’s not a people’s champ, I don’t feel. He’s a great champ, but I don’t know. I’m just different. I’m a different breed, man.”

Volkanovski is ‘failing’

The Bellator Champ would also call out Alexander Volkanovski on being one-dimensional, claiming ‘The Great’ isn’t so great at some aspects of MMA.

“It’s mixed martial arts. It’s not rugby. You need to have wrestling. You need to have jiu-jitsu and striking. He doesn’t have jiu-jitsu nor wrestling. So one out of three is failing, if you ask me. In school terms, you’re failing. For me, that’s an easy fight.”

Volkanovski isn’t exactly in school but we’ll see if he passes his next test against ‘The Korean Zombie’ at UFC 273 on April 9th.
