The ONE Championship title fight between John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade was waved off after a low blow.

The bantamweight title fight being held at ONE Championship‘s ONE on Prime Video 3 seems to have been doomed from the very beginning. Following the rollercoaster to get to the cage, the two fighters in the main event of the ONE Championship card, John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade seemed to have given their all in the three-round war only to have it end in a no-contest due to a low blow.

The fight was a back and fourth between good striking by Andrade and takedowns and wrestling from Lineker. It seemed as if Andrade was ahead in the fight as he was able to continue to land hard shots against Lineker that showed in damage to the face. Heading into the third round it seemed as though Andrade was going to put Lineker away until he landed a hard shot to the groin of his opponent. Immediately Lineker writhed in pain and the referee stopped the action. The low blow was so powerful that it broke the cup of Lineker. The fight was called off right there and ruled a no-contest.

John Lineker was stripped of the ONE Championship belt before the fight

The lead-up to the bout was just as bizarre as the way it ended. During the weigh-ins for this event, Lineker had trouble making weight. He failed his first attempt to make 145 pounds but passed his hydration test. He was given more time but came in slightly heavier for the second attempt. He was subsequently stripped of his title on the scale. The removal of the title meant that only Andrade was eligible to be named the champion with a win.

Now the ONE Championship bantamweight title remains vacant. It is unclear at this time whether this fight will be run back or if another matchup will be held to determine a new bantamweight champion.
