The wait is over.
Diego Sanchez returns against Kevin Lee in the main event of Eagle FC 46. Both men make their Eagle FC debuts in Miami, after their UFC departures last year. They also step foot inside a new weight class at super lightweight.
Round 1:
Diego Sanchez lands a beautiful leg kick. The two exchange on the feet. Lee starts to put together his combos. It looks like Lee may have injured his left leg from Sanchez’s kicks. Lee catches Sanchez with a cross and then a jab that puts him down momentarily. Lee gets a takedown on Sanchez and controls him next to the cage.
Lee gets control of Sanchez’s back. After 30 seconds or so, Sanchez escapes to his feet. Lee throws an onslaught of punches near the end of the round. Lee lands three or four punches on Sanchez after the bell.
Round 2:
Sanchez lands a leg kick, Lee returns up top with a head kick. Lee stumbles on his injured left leg. The two slug it out on the feet. Sanchez lands some kicks on the body. Sanchez pushes Lee backwards and Lee’s leg looks compromised. Sanchez knees Lee, but Lee uses the opening for a takedown. Lee gets on top and lands some ground and pound.
Sanchez looks for an armbar from bottom but is unable to get it. Lee rains down elbows and punches to finish the round.
Round 3:
Lee lands some punches to begin the round. Lee swings wildly on ‘The Nightmare’. Lee stalks Sanchez on the feet, not giving him any room to breathe. Sanchez throws a multi-punch combo but misses. Sanchez is aggressive in this round, but misses most of his punches. Sanchez finally lands a few strikes nearing the two-minute mark.
Sanchez mixes his punches and leg kicks in well. Just when things are going good for the TUF 1 Champion, Lee knocks him down with a left hook. Lee swarms on top, and holds him down for the last minute. Lee rocks Sanchez in the last 10 seconds, absolutely unloading on Sanchez. Final bell sounds, the main event comes to a close.
