Kevin Lee says he is getting paid more than some UFC champions.

Eagle FC Debut

We are less than a month before “The Motown Phenom” makes his debut in Eagle FC. It will be the first time he makes a walk to a cage that is outside of the UFC since 2013. He faces another UFC veteran, Diego Sanchez, in the main event of Eagle FC 46.

Fighter pay will forever be a topic in mixed martial arts, and with different promotions popping up, it gives fighters other options. Lee told MMA Junkie Radio that he will be making more money in his Eagle FC debut than some UFC champions.

I’m making a bunch of money

While the former interim lightweight title challenger is very happy with this pay, he is still super competitive.

“My competitiveness in me just drives me,” Lee said. “That’s just a never-ending process. It’s not like now I can chill, now that I’m making a bunch of money, now I can go out there and just have fun. No, this is a fight. This is a fight for your life at the end of the day. People lose their life doing this type of sh*t, so the competitor in me is still up there and still driving.”

“I’m making a bunch of money, though. That’s the part I’m not upset about. My contract will make more than most UFC champions see, so that part is kind of nice. But the competitor in me still thinks it’s the same game.”

“I’m going to make more than UFC champions in my first fight, so we’re having fun.”

The specifics of Lee’s purse are not available, but hopefully, we will get some more insight in the coming months.

Lee vs. Sanchez goes down on March 11 at Eagle FC 46.
