Even though Diego Sanchez is a huge underdog in his upcoming fight, he plans to overcome that and get his hands on a world title. The Eagle FC Super Lightweight belt, that is.

Eagle FC 46 is here, and it goes down tomorrow night in Miami, FL. Two former UFC fighters throw down as Kevin Lee takes on the UFC and MMA legend Sanchez in the main event. This is Sanchez’s first fight outside of the UFC since 2005, when he won the inaugural Ultimate Fighter season.

Underdog

Sanchez ranges anywhere from a +500 to a +800 underdog. While those are some big numbers, he doesn’t mind it. He is embracing being the underdog and is very motivated about it.

“I feel great, and the motivation is the challenge,” Sanchez said during the Eagle FC 46 press conference. “That’s why I got into this fighting thing. It’s a challenge. The mental fortitude that you need to go forward in this sport is huge, and the opponent I got in front of me is huge. He’s 29 years old; I’m 40. I’m the underdog. That’s a huge challenge in my eyes, and I’m here to make a statement and show my skillset and just go out there and show the world that, yeah, I am Diego Sanchez, and I am a legend.”

A legend he is. Sanchez wants to add more thing to his already legendary career, the Eagle FC super lightweight belt. And he is ready to die for it.

I got one goal, is the Eagle FC super lightweight championship belt. That’s it, and this man right here is standing in front of me, and let’s do this. I’m ready,” Sanchez said. “I’m coming in here with all my heart, all my mind, all my spirit, all my soul, and I’m ready to die in there.”
