Kayla Harrison wanted a tough fight in her UFC debut and she got her wish.

Harrison shocked many when it was announced she signed with the UFC and will make her debut at UFC 300 against former champion Holly Holm. It’s an intriguing matchup and Harrison says she always wanted to be UFC champion which is what her focus is on now.

“There’s one last mountain to climb, and that’s UFC gold. That’s what I’m coming for, that’s what my goal is. Holly Holm is a step to that,” Harrison said to TMZ Sports.

Harrison will be dropping down to bantamweight for the first time in her career at UFC 300 when she faces Holly Holm.

Kayla Harrison calls Holly Holm the toughest fight for her

Although Harrison will be dropping down to 135lbs, she still is a massive betting favorite to defeat Holm to get the win.

However, Harrison believes the fight will be harder than most expect as the former PFL champ says Holm is the toughest matchup for her.

“I think that Holly is the toughest fight in the division for me. I think that, first of all, her boxing pedigree. Her record, she’s fought all of the best girls. She’s always in the mix, she’s always at the top, she’s been around the sport for a long time, she’s a super veteran, she knows what she’s doing, she’s a former champion, and she’s an MMA fighter,” Harrison said.

“Her grappling has gotten a lot better, you know her footwork is top-notch, her fight IQ is through the roof. She is f*****g good, she’s great. She’s one of the greats. I love it. I expect her to be the best version of Holly Holm on April 13 and I’m going to come in there and be the best version of Kayla Harrison,” Harrison continued.

If Harrison does get her hand raised at UFC 300, the goal is to get a title shot next time out.
