Jon Jones shuts down the idea of a trilogy fight between him and DC

Earlier today, UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones rattled off a list of tweets. In those tweets, Jon stated that he ensures there will not be a trilogy fight between him and Daniel Cormier.

Despite what he says to the media, I will guarantee you guys there will be no third fight. No way will he lose that weight again, no way will he be willing to reface those nightmares that comes when facing the beast_ Jones said

Jon states that he has little to no desire to move up to heavyweight because it’s easy for him to make the 205 lb mark and continue his dominance.

The statements came as a result of Daniel Cormier on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

On the show, DC stated, “Ultimately, for him to make the big bucks, he needs to face me. It will be my decision. The fight would be at 205 again, that’s one of the prime reasons I would do it because I’d want to make right what was wrong initially.”

Even with the challenge of Stipe Miocic freshly on the horizon at UFC 241, Cormier still can’t get Jones off of his mind. While DC expressed his interests of making the 205lb limit to fight Jones for the 3rd time, he also seems very content with the idea that UFC 241 could be his last match ever; especially if he doesn’t get another crack at Jon.

Furthermore, on the Helwani show, DC said,

“This fight can be the last (fight). I’ll win the fight this weekend and see what happens. The reality is, if I have to walk away from this thing after Saturday, I’m OK with it.
“I’ve accomplished so much. My family is excited with the prospects of me being around more. The other side looks good too. But right now I have to be focused for this weekend.”

It seems like if DC can make the light heavyweight championship weight, Jon would be willing to fight a third time. “Bones” just doesn’t believe that DC would be willing to shed the extra weight at this point of his career.

Beef continues:

With Jon believing he has nothing more to prove against Cormier, do you think it’s plausible that we will get the trilogy fight? If the two men were to agree for the third time, who would you favor in the matchup? One thing is for sure, the idea of a trilogy fight taking place at heavyweight is out of the cards.
