Joe Rogan gave his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane.

There is a huge heavyweight title bout on the horizon between former UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones and former interim champion Ciryl Gane. The announcement of this bout went hand in hand with the news that Francis Ngannou was released from the UFC. For months many fans thought that Jones would be making his heavyweight debut against Ngannou and that was a fight they were looking forward to. UFC commentator Joe Rogan is now admitting that he is disappointed that that bout will no longer be a possibility.

Rogan spoke about Jones, Gane, and Ngannou on a recent episode of his podcast.

Joe Rogan is mad that he won’t be able to see Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou

Rogan has been around the UFC for many years and always has great insight into the fights and fighter’s abilities. He was speaking with Belal Muhammad on his podcast about Jones’ chances against Gane. Much like the rest of the MMA community both men were curious to see how Jones will stack up at heavyweight. Rogan did a quick run-through of some pros and cons for both Jones and Gane.

“The thing is Ciryll Gane was out-grappled by Francis and Francis had a bad knee,” he said. “Francis’s knee was f–ked up and Frances out-grappled him and beat him handily with grappling…Very interesting fight. So for Jon, it’s going to be can Jon take him down? How does Jon perform at heavyweight? Can Jon, close the distance? Is he as fast? What is the three years off like? Is he hungrier and even better, because he’s fired up like y’all must have forgot?

Rogan also expressed his disappointment in missing out on a huge bout between Ngannou and Jones.

“I’m mad because I feel like we were deprived of one of the great fights in MMA, one of the most compelling fights in MMA,” he said. “Does it mean I’m not interested in Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones, I’m very interested in that fight for all the things you listed. Also for Ciryl Gane’s performance against Tai Tuivasa, it’s like God damn, Ciryl Gane. And Ciryl Gane does a lot of sh-t that’s very unusual. Like first of all, he stands totally sideways and he does a twisting kick with his front leg to throw a front kick.”

The heavyweight title fight between Jones and Gane will be taking place on March 4 live for the T-Moibile Arena in Las Vegas.
