Ciryl Gane will be making more money come March when he faces Jon Jones.
There have been many moving parts in the UFC heavyweight division of late. The former champion Francis Ngannou has decided to part ways with the organization after failed negotiations and that has left the title vacant. Moving right along, the UFC has already assigned two top fighters to face off for that belt, Jon Jones will be making his heavyweight debut in March when he takes on Ciryl Gane for the undisputed title. Now it is revealed that Gane will not only have the opportunity to fight for yet another title, but he will also be getting a bump up in pay.
Gane fought Ngannou back in January of last year for the belt. He lost that matchup and has since gone on to win against Tai Tuivasa, setting himself up for another title shot. This bout is one of the most anticipated of the year, with the title being on the line and the questions surrounding Jones’ return, the fans will surely be tuning in for this one.

When Jones decided to make the move to heavyweight many thought it would be Ngannou who would get the first shot at him. Now that he has left the UFC, Gane has gotten the call. This is a huge bout that will most likely be one of the highest-selling PPVs of all time. All fighters involved should be paid well, and Gane has made sure that is the case by having a clause in his contract that gives him a pay raise when and if he were to face Jones. The details of this were explained by Ariel Helwani on his show.
“Ciryl Gane has a contract, in that contract which Dana White didn’t state which is why I thought the question was good, he has a deal let’s say it’s like a six-fight deal right? But in the contract, it states if you fight Jon Jones, much like in many contracts it states if you fight for the belt you’ll get paid X, in his contract he has something that says if you fight Jon Jones you’ll get paid X,” he explained. “Different than the other how many fights are on the deal, do get what I’m saying? That’s what the clause is. So you know this is something they wanted, pushing for, hoping for, and it suggests that he’s getting more to fight Jon Jones.”
Jones is on a new contract as well. It was explained by his manager that he signed a new eight-fight deal that has made him the second highest-paid fighter in the UFC all time. Although the exact numbers were not released, Jones was asking for 10 million dollars back when these negotiations began.
