Ian Garry claimed Colby Covington’s latest callout video was “weak.”

Over the last few weeks, UFC welterweight contenders Garry and Covington have been exchanging social media callouts. ‘Chaos’ started by listing three stipulations regarding Garry’s wife, and the latter responded by challenging him to a WWE-style “I Quit match.”

Since then, they have continued calling each other out without any significant progress toward a sanctioned fight. Garry recently did an interview with Sky Sports and had this to say when asked about Covington’s latest social media video:

“Weak, it was weak. That’s the truth, and we came back with a better clapback. I thought it’s weak considering that he didn’t mention me. Nothing was to do about fighting me. This is the thing, he’s trying to avoid me. He doesn’t want to talk about the fight. He’s a man of excuses. The truth is, let’s see if he signs the contract. Let’s see if he steps into the Octagon, or if he just tries to run, or if he just tries to extend it and make it. In my mind, he’s a coward.”

Ian Garry provides an update on contract negotiations for potential fight against Colby Covington

Contractual stipulations and fantasy rules are entertaining for social media, but fans are genuinely interested in seeing Ian Garry and Colby Covington fight in the Octagon. When it comes to negotiations, there doesn’t seem to be any progress, as Garry had this to say during the previously mentioned interview with Sky Sports:

“I can tell you I’m the one who called him out in the Octagon. I’m the one who’s been hounding the UFC. He hasn’t said yes. That’s it, it’s on him. He hasn’t signed no contract. It’s on him.”

Garry also had this to say about his plans to make Covington quit in front of Donald Trump:

“I’m gonna make Colby [Covington] say [I quit], that’s what we’re gonna do. I’m gonna have him, pounding his face on the canvas, I’m gonna point his face at Donald Trump, and I’m gonna be like, ‘Say it, say it to your president. Don’t say it to me. Say it to Trump. I want him to look into your eyes while you say that.’”

Number four-ranked welterweight Colby Covington last fought in December 2023, suffering a unanimous decision loss against Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight title. Meanwhile, Ian Garry, ranked number seven, is coming off a split decision win against Geoff Neal on February 17, extending his promotional record to 7-0.
