Georges St-Pierre has weighed in on personal grudges going too far such as Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.

Things have gotten ugly between Covington and Masvidal to the point where it was allegedly taken to the streets. Masvidal was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a mask and criminal mischief. He allegedly attacked Covington outside a restaurant in Miami.

GSP On Personal Feuds In MMA

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, GSP weighed in on the beef between Covington and Masvidal and why he never took anything personal in his fighting career.

“Things get out of hand. I think guys, they take it too personal. For me, it never mattered what my opponent was saying to me. For me, it’s not personal it’s about business. The more [fighters were] trash-talking me in a way I was making more money.

“So, I really have to give a big thank you to all the ferocious opponents that I had who were trash-talking me because they built up the fight in a better, interesting way for the audience. So, I made more money. It’s good for business.”

Keeping Home Life Private

St-Pierre went on to say that he always kept his life private throughout his career so that he wouldn’t become an easy target for his opponents in the pre-fight buildups.

“There is a reason why I never put my family and my real private life public. It’s because I know if someone wants to get to me, it’s easy for me. It comes from one ear and it goes out of the other one and I don’t take it personal.

“But if you try to get to someone that I love or someone in my family, now it’s gonna be a different story. So, that’s why I always try to hide this part of my life.”

Covington has been known to get personal with his trash talk. He’s gone as far as to say that nothing is off-limits in the fight game.
