Greg Hardy Puts Francis Ngannou On Blast

Controversial or not, Greg Hardy is one of the most athletic fighters in the UFC’s Heavyweight division. It is due to this, that he feels able to comment on the athletic ability of other UFC fighters, like Francis Ngannou.

Hardy has had a mixed start to his UFC career. The former NFL player, turned MMA fighter lost his UFC debut via DQ. However, he was successful in his most recent bout against Juan Adams.

Nevertheless, Hardy’s controversial past is what brings his career turn into question. He faced allegation of physical abuse in the past. Although never convicted, this caused the athlete to no longer be able to compete in the NFL. Even officials have disdain for Hardy.

So now he is signed to the UFC, among some of the best combat athletes alive. Not least of which, is fellow heavyweight Francis Ngannou. According to an interview on The Slip ‘N Dip Podcast, Hardy is not impressed by the wrecking machine that is Ngannou.

“Francis Ngannou is a fighter that has athletic ability. He’s not an athlete. Just seeing what happened to Francis with Stipe was a warning, but from the beginning, I always told everybody I want to be a well-rounded fighter. I don’t want to focus on one thing and be one-dimensional. I want to be the man. And the only way you can do that is to take over.”

He continued, elaborating on his view of athletes in MMA.

“I don’t think there’s that many out there. It’s starting to come alive. It’s starting to be OK to come over, but most people been in the fight game so long they lost that and conformed to the basic movement.”

Even though he feels this way about MMA generally, Hardy did specifically mention Ngannou. Perhaps he is looking for a bout with Ngannou. It is not hard to find people who want to see Francis do to Hardy, the same thing he did to Junior dos Santos, among others.

Do you want to see Greg Hardy face Francis Ngannou? Or is that too much, too soon?
