Ex-UFC fighter Felipe Colares passed away Monday morning after being hit by a bus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was 29.
First reported by the Brazilian media outlet Combate, Colares is said to have been hit by a bus while returning home from a training session. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries before arriving. Official word of his passing was delivered by Colares’ coach Rodrigo Babi. One of the fighters’ relatives, Selma Cunha, also confirmed the tragic news in a post on Facebook.

Making his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2013, Felipe Colares scored eight-straight wins on the regional scene before making his way to the UFC in 2019. He fought six times inside the Octagon before parting ways with the promotion in 2022. His last appearance in the cage came in February of this year for ARES Fighting Championship. Colares earned a second-round submission victory over Alioune Nahaye.
‘Cabocão’ made headlines in January when he was observed on camera detaining an alleged thief who was accused of attacking a woman in Brazil.
Colares is said to be survived by his wife Jaqueline and their six-month-old son.
