- Eddie Alvarez has left ONE Championship
- “The Underground King” is now open to joining another promotion
After three years, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has now officially parted ways with ONE Championship.
Eddie is a free agent
The news was first reported by South China Morning Post, but Alvarez confirmed that had already departed ONE “amicably” on social media shortly after. He declared that he’s now “a free agent” and is already looking for a new promotion.
“Confirmed ,I am no longer with ONE,” Alvarez tweeted. “We parted ways amicably and I remain on good terms with the ONE team. I want to thank Chatri for the opportunity and I look forward to watching their continued success. I’m officially a free agent and Ready to Hunt… Tell me whose next? UGK.”

An underwhelming run
Since leaving the UFC for ONE Championship in 2019, “The Underground King” has gone 1-2-1 NC. Apart from beating ONE’s two-time lightweight champion Eduard Folayang at ONE Championship: Dawn of Heroes, Alvarez never tasted victory again. One of his last two defeats was a disqualification loss which was eventually overturned to No Contest. The latest was a decision loss to Rae Yoon Ok at ONE on TNT 4.
In the UFC, Alvarez last fought in the lightweight division and suffered a devastating TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. At 38 years old, will a UFC comeback for the former 155-pound king still an option? Let’s wait and see.
