The scheduled boxing match between Dillon Danis and KSI will not be happening now that Danis has pulled out.

For the last three years, grappling standout turned MMA fighter Dillon Danis has been sitting out. He has been dealing with a lingering injury that has kept him sidelined but he was now ready to return. After just two MMA bouts under the Bellator banner, Danis was taking his talents to the boxing ring. He has done a great deal of trash-talking during his absence and had finally booked a fight against a YouTuber, KSI.

This fight seemed doomed for the beginning as Danis never seemed to take it very seriously, but on Wednesday afternoon the bout actually fell apart. According to KSI’s manager, Mams Taylor, Danis has been pulled from the fight.

KSI’s management team accuses Dillon Danis of under-preparing for this fight and having weight issues

KSI and his management team took to social media to announce that Danis will not be fighting at the event being held on Jan. 14 at Wembley Arena in London. Later Taylor spoke to MMA Fighting to give some more details on the state of Danis and his relationship with Misfit Boxing.

“The real reason is, from what they said to me, is that he’s underprepared,” Taylor said. “He has no coach. He might be struggling with weight even though there’s no rehydration. He has not been able to find a team that’s going to support him to bring him into the fight and obviously he’s got some other issues I think.”

In the lead-up to this bout, there were some indications that Danis would be a no-show. He failed to show up to a press conference scheduled to promote the fight. Later he was a guest on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and seemed less than interested in the fight. He explained that he was originally set to face Logan Paul, but after an injury that sidelined Paul, Danis took the fight with KSI. Although throughout the entire interview, Danis was adamant that he would show up to the match, now just ten days out he has pulled himself.

“It’s very sad and unfortunate because he didn’t reciprocate the respect that we’ve given him,” Taylor said. “He’s clearly embarrassed that he’s in this position and – look, who knows what he’s going to come out with and say, but I’m disappointed because I never thought that someone who cares about his reputation as much as he does or what people think of him, I didn’t think that this would be something despite many people saying the opposite, that he’s not going to show up to the fight. They were right.”

It has been announced that Danis will be replaced by the owner of FaZe Clan, an esports company, FaZe Temperrr.
