Former WBC heavyweight boxing world champion Deontay Wilder would be down to fight Nate Diaz in MMA.

While Wilder was the heavyweight champ, and even since losing the belt, he has talked about wanting to do an MMA fight. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ reportedly has been training wrestling and MMA as he looks for a fight.

Although Wilder has been vocal about wanting to fight Francis Ngannou in boxing and MMA, he also says Nate Diaz is another name he’s interested in. Although Diaz fights at 170lbs, Wilder still says it would be something he’d be down for.

“Oh, most definitely. I’d be down to get in there with Nate for sure. We are going to see, there’s only one way to find out,” Wilder said.

After the video of Deontay Wilder went viral of him saying he’d fight Nate Diaz in an MMA fight, the Stockton native took to social media to express interest in the bout.

“Let’s get these contract written up asap.. Real fight shit respect to a real fighter down to fight for real. All love to boxing But this is different REAL shit LFG 1993,” Diaz wrote.

Although Deontay Wilder and Nate Diaz have an interest in fighting one another in MMA, it’s uncertain if it will happen due to the weight discrepancy. But, with both being free agents in MMA, they could promote it themselves and it would be a very intriguing matchup to see.

Deontay Wilder vows to fight in the UFC before his career is over

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Deontay Wilder is still talking about MMA as he has been vocal in saying he will fight in mixed martial arts and the UFC before his career is over.

Currently, Wilder doesn’t have his next boxing fight booked and ‘The Bronze Bomber’

“I’m thinking about doing both, UFC and boxing. I’ll be a dangerous man in the UFC with 4oz gloves… I feel like picking up a big body and slamming him, then getting on top of him and beating the s*** out of him,” Wilder said.

Deontay Wilder is currently 43-2-1 as a pro boxer and coming off a first-round KO over Robert Helenius in October of 2022.
