UFC president Dana White has revealed the latest addition to the highly-anticipated UFC 300 event and the co-main event of UFC 299.

A No. 1 contender bout

MMA fans all over the world have been waiting for an update on UFC 300 and at last, White has finally revealed the newest addition to the stacked card. According to the UFC boss, a No. 1 contender match will take place between current No. 1 lightweight contender Charles Oliveira and No. 4 Arman Tsarukyan.

White also addressed Oliveira’s case of becoming Islam Makhachev’s next title challenger and revealed that the bout was scrapped due to the reigning champ’s injury. White then divulged that Makhachev will hopefully be back in the summer to face the winner of Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan.

Dustin Poirier has found a fresh opponent

Another thrilling lightweight showdown will also happen at UFC 299 as White announced Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint-Denis. The UFC honcho explained that Saint-Denis has been anointing himself as the UFC’s real BMF and now they are giving him the opportunity to prove against “The Diamond.”

Prior to White’s announcement, Poirier was down to face Nate Diaz at UFC 300. He is currently at No. 3 in the lightweight rankings, while Saint-Denis is sitting at No. 12. However, “God of War” is on a five-fight winning streak with all coming by finishes in less than two rounds. His latest victim was Matt Frevola, whom he KO’d with a head kick in the 1st round.

“[Saint-Denis] has been saying he believes he’s the new BMF of the UFC and he’ll have the opportunity to prove it against Dustin Poirier, who’s an absolute savage and always goes to war. These guys agreed to fight but they both wanted a five-round fight so they got it. That is the co-main event of the Miami show,” White said.

UFC 299 will take place on March 9 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. It will be headlined by the rematch between reigning bantamweight champ Sean O’Malley and Chito Vera.

On the other hand, UFC 300 is set to happen on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. As it stands, the UFC has only revealed four fights for the massive event. However, White swore to make bigger announcements on Tuesday (January 9, 2024).
