Lightweight knockout artist Matt Frevola returned to the Octagon gunning for his fourth-straight victory at UFC 295.
After steamrolling his last three opponents with back-to-back-to-back first-round knockouts, Frevola stepped into the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden with the hope of adding another highlight-reel-worthy finish to his resume.
Standing in his way was the always dangerous Benoit Saint-Denis. The ‘God of War’ has not suffered a defeat since his promotional debut more than two years ago. He looked to keep it that way against one of the 155-pound division’s most dangerous strikers.
Round 1
Both fighters get things started early with Saint-Denis going upstairs early. Frevola responds with a body kick and then gets taken off his feet with a calf kick from Saint-Denis. Frevola briefly ends up on top as both men go to the ground, but Saint-Denis reverses. Frevola works his way back up, presses Saint-Denis against the fence, and lands a takedown.
Saint-Denis gets back to his feet and as Frevola circles away, Saint-Denis uncorks a head kick that catches Frevola, sending him crashing to the canvas immediately bringing an end to the bout.
Official Result: Benoit Saint-Denis def. Matt Frevola via KO (head kick) at 1:31 of Round 1.
