While ensuring that he will be a much better fighter when he steps back inside the Octagon, Charles Oliveira decided to have a massive tattoo on his back. It may not help his performance but undeniably, the new tat looks epic.

Seemingly making a statement

After failing to reclaim his lightweight belt at UFC 280 against the eventual Islam Makhachev, Oliveira vowed to return better than ever. The Brazilian is planning to fight in April but while nothing is concrete yet, “Do Bronx” opted to get a new back and tattoo.

The design is very fitting for his UFC return battle cry – a lion, seemingly implying that the king will soon take his kingdom back.

A man with a plan

Despite the loss to Makhachev, Oliveira is still one of the biggest draws in the UFC. He is currently the No. 1 lightweight contender and a win over either of his fellow Top-5 fighters could be his ticket to a title shot.

While the plan is to still fight for the title this year, “Do Bronx” just couldn’t get over his pursuit of a showdown with former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor. In fact, Oliveira previously said he only agreed to fight Makhachev to strengthen his case for a massive fight with “The Notorious” this year.

Aside from McGregor, Oliveira also mentioned Beneil Dariush, but he admitted that a fight with the No. 4. Lightweight contender isn’t his priority. He got a couple of good fights in his head but the Brazilian is letting the UFC decide on what’s next for him.

Prior to UFC 280, Oliveira was widely regarded as the greatest active lightweight fighter in the UFC. He has won 11 consecutive fights before losing to Makhachev, including the back-to-back submission finishes over Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. His current record is 33-9-1.
