Cedric Doumbe Suffers First MMA Loss In Bizarre TKO Ending Against Baysanguy Chamsoudinov – PFL Paris Result (Highlights)

Cedric Doumbe attempted to call a timeout due to a foot injury, leading Marc Goddard to step in and stop the fight for an anti-climactic fashion.

In September 2023, Cedric Doumbe made his PFL debut after establishing a professional MMA record of 4-0, all wins by KO/TKO. The former two-time Glory Kickboxing welterweight champion lived up to his massive expectations with a nine-second knockout that instantly made him a superstar in the MMA community. 

Six months later, Doumbe headlined his second PFL event in Paris when the promotion launched their 2024 Europe season today, March 7. The 31-year-old welterweight received a step up in competition, as he was matched against Baysanguy Chamsoudinov, a 22-year-old prospect with a 7-0 record. 

Doumbe vs. Chamsoudinov took place inside the Accor Arena in Paris, France, with Doumbe as the fan favorite for the packed venue.

Round 1:

Doumbe comes out with heavy feinting and starts moving forward. Chamsoudinov catches a leg to secure a takedown. Doumbe gets up and the crowd goes crazy as he passes the early grappling test. Chamsoudinov puts Doumbe on his back for the second time by catching his leg. Doumbe manages to get back to his feet and Chamsoudinov pushes him against the fence. Chamsoudinov secured his third takedown with a double leg. Doumbe utilizes his butterfly guard before Chamsoudinov brings him down for a fourth takedown. Doumbe breaks off and they meet in the middle of the cage. Chamsoudinov ends the round by landing an overhand right. 

Round 2:

Doumbe lands a few jabs, he’s starting to find his range. Chamsoudinov looks for another takedown but comes up short. Doumbe lands a clean shot and stuns Chamsoudinov temporarily. Doumbe misses on a massive left hand. Chamsoudinov capitalizes by pushing him against the fence for some gritty clinch work. Chamsoudinov landed a clean jab as Doumbe attempted to close distance. Doumbe fires back with a one-two, Chamsoudinov shrugs it off. Chamsoudinov continues circling around the cage and landing jabs, the crowd has begun booing. 

Round 3:

Doumbe starts the round with a clear right hand, he’s picking up the pace. The fight temporarily stops and points at his foot in a confusing scene. Referee Marc Goddard isn’t interested and the fight continues. Doumbe points to his foot again and GODDARD STOPS THE FIGHT.

Once the fight ended, Cedric Doumbe and Marc Goddard began arguing. Doumbe claimed he didn’t want the fight stopped, but Goddard says that’s not allowed. Doumbe complained about a foot injury and Goddard had no choice, so he stopped the fight. Doumbe says in the post-fight interview that he had glass in his foot. Doumbe laughs off the situation as fans boo.
