After suffering a controversial loss in his last outing, Cédric Doumbé returned to the Smart Cage on Friday afternoon for a clash with Jaleel Willis at Bellator Champions Series: Paris.

Doumbé was a perfect 5-0 before a splinter in his foot ended things against Baysangur Chamsoudinov in March. Determined to score a bit of redemption, ‘Le Meilleur’ returned to the cage for a clash with a 21-fight veteran in desperate need of a victory.

Round 1

Willis comes out and immediately throws a kick that Doumbé catches and tosses aside. The fighters recenter and Doumbé stalks forward as Willis circles the outside of the cage. Willis shoots in, but Doumbé easily sprawls. As Willis gets back to his feet, he eats a big right hand. Willis again shoots, but Doumbé defends and ends up on top before opting to get back on his feet, letting Willis up in the process.

During a brief exchange, Doumbé appears to catch a glancing blow that knocks him off his feet. Willis charges in, but Doumbé sidesteps him to avoid any additional danger. Willis resumes circling the outside and pumping his jab. Willis fires a front kick to the body. Doumbé closes the distance and lands a right hook that puts Willis on the mat. Doumbé moves in and unleashes a flurry of strikes.

Willis does everything he can to move and defend, but after eating so many unanswered strikes, the referee steps in and calls for the stoppage.

Official Result: Cédric Doumbé def. Jaleel Willis via TKO (strikes) at 3:33 of Round 1.
