Brandon Mills, the son of Matt Hughes, 21, will make his professional MMA debut later this year.

Due to the rapid growth of MMA, some pioneers of mixed martial arts often don’t receive the respect they deserve for various reasons, with Matt Hughes being an example. During his fighting days, Hughes held the UFC welterweight championship two times, leading to seven title defenses.

The UFC Hall of Famer ended his fighting career in September 2011 with a professional MMA record of 45-9, including wins against Carlos Newton x2, Sean Sherk, Georges St-Pierre, Royce Gracie, BJ Penn, Renzo Gracie, and more.

It turns out Hughes’ impact on MMA isn’t finished as his son prepares for his professional debut.

On October 14, Hughes’ son, Brandon Mills, looks to put everyone on notice with a win against Jordon Clark (2-1) at Caged Aggression 36. The 21-year-old featherweight shared his fight announcement by saying this on Instagram:

“October 14th coming back to Iowa but this time as a professional 👊🏻🐺”

Brandon Mills made his amateur MMA debut in June 2021, winning by a first-round submission. Four months later, he returned to action and secured a unanimous decision in his Caged Aggression debut

Since then, Mills continued fighting with Caged Aggression, leading to two more submission wins. He last fought on April 21, ending his amateur tenure as a 4-0 featherweight.

Who Is Brandon Mills fighting in his professional MMA debut?

Brandon Mills has a statement to make on October 14. It could be easier said than done as he takes on Jordon Clark, who plans to capitalize on the opportunity.

Clark lost his amateur MMA debut by split decision in September 2018. He bounced back by securing seven consecutive wins, including four inside the distance, before turning pro.

Since then, he’s established a 2-1 record, with two first-round submissions separating a unanimous decision loss.

Brandon Mills vs. Jordan Clark isn’t the only fight creating buzz for Caged Aggression 36. In the main event, Pat Miletich will fight in a professional MMA bout for the first time in fifteen years.

The 55-year-old MMA legend has been matched up against Mike Jackson, who went 1-2 (one no-contest) in the UFC before being released in January of this year.
