Bobby Green offered advice to Tony Ferguson about how to end his losing streak.

Over the last three and a half years, Ferguson has lost six consecutive fights against top-tier competition, including four inside the distance. The former UFC interim lightweight champion’s latest loss was a third-round submission against Green in July at UFC 291.

Since then, most of the MMA community (fans, fighters, and analysts) have called for ‘El Cucuy’ to retire. On the contrary, Ferguson’s latest opponent, Green, thinks he should keep fighting.

In fact, ‘King’ believes the 39-year-old will emerge victorious against Paddy Pimblett on December 16 at UFC 296.

During an interview with The Schmo, Bobby Green had this to say when asked about Tony Ferguson’s losing streak:

“Nothing but respect for my dog. I would say keep going, kid. Everybody telling him to retire and stuff. He should retire when he wants to retire. Don’t let nobody tell you different. I fought Tony, so I know what I was dealing with in there.”

Green continued by predicting Ferguson will defeat Pimblett:

“The whole entire time, even though I was kicking his a*s, Tony was never giving up. He was never gonna quit, he was never gonna break, and he got that warrior spirit still. As long as you got that warrior spirit, go do your thing, bro. I think he’s gonna beat Paddy [Pimblett].”

Bobby Green details what Tony Ferguson needs to improve

There’s no doubt that Tony Ferguson needed to make a significant change to turn his fighting career around. Yet, Ferguson has been met with backlash regarding his decision to work with David Goggins, a retired Navy SEAL with millions of followers who enjoy his motivational content.

During the previously mentioned interview with The Schmo, Bobby Green had this to say about Ferguson teaming up with Goggins to prepare for UFC 296:

“I’m a little confused too just like the rest of the MMA crowd. I just feel like Tony needs a sick a*s guy like me who can kind of tone in his weirdness and put some basics back together, some of the basic things, and he’ll be nice. I don’t know why he’s doing all of this cardio stuff.”

Green continued by detailing what Ferguson needs to do to end his losing streak:

“I think he’d be dope if he just picked up some of the basics. Jab a little better, his head movement a little better. Those small little things like that, and he’d be great. I think that’s where the problem is at. He’s punching, his chin is still up, and he’s getting hit. Nobody’s helping him with those aspects of fighting. It has nothing to do with his heart or his cardio.”

As for Bobby Green, the 37-year-old is riding high after winning back-to-back fights inside the distance against Tony Ferguson and Grant Dawson.

Green hoped to continue building momentum against Dan Hooker on December 2 at UFC Austin, but, unfortunately, Hooker pulled out with an injury.

It’s unclear if the UFC will find a short-notice replacement opponent for Green.
