BJ PENN EXPLAINS HIS RECENT STREET FIGHTS

BJ Penn has been catching a ton of heat recently. Following a pair of videos surfacing of Penn getting in street fights at bars, the recent judgment of his behaviors has been warranted. It’s documented that BJ has had a multitude of problems surrounding the law. In most cases, he stayed tight-lipped about his altercations. Recently, Penn finally broke his silence and spoke with TSN on the recent footage of his actions.

On the TSN MMA Show podcast, Penn verbalized the ongoing custody battle he’s facing. He mentioned that the videos released by TMZ have really affected his case in the eyes of the court system. He even eluded that the timing of the footage releasing during his custody case is strange.

“Something happened and I had to protect myself and hold a guy on the ground”, said Penn to TSN. “The last thing I want to do is get into any type of trouble. I mean, my custody case, my seeing my kids… it’s just really strange how things happen and you know, you never see this kind of stuff. (But) here I am in a custody case and this happened twice.

Penn Explains the Lead Up to the Video Footage

Penn continued his commentary with the story of what led up to the footage captured by TMZ. He explained how he was going to a concert to meet up with a long-time friend of his from childhood.

” We’ll come (and) enjoy the concert, we’ve got some other friends there,” said Penn.

Next, Penn stated that he was simply trying to give the man a hug before he was attacked.

“I walk outside to go give the guy a hug and then he hits me twice. I’m like, (no, no) calm down. I try to give him another hug and he hits me a couple more times and then he hits me again,” Penn continued.

“I wish they didn’t cut the video in half so whoever put that video up cut it in half, I wish they had the whole thing that showed me trying to hug the guy.”

Penn Makes a Case for Self-Defense

Lastly, Penn described what made him tell the man to hit him.

“Finally, my adrenaline kicked up because he was hitting me so much, I’m like, Go ahead, hit me again,” Penn stated. He hit me and he hit me good. Knocked me down. And then when I got back up he tried it again and then I just had to defend myself. So that’s what you see in the second video.”

BJ Finished his plea by reiterating that the last thing he wants to do is get into trouble in the midst of his court case.

“Anybody who knows me, (knows that) I’m not the first guy to go around and start pushing people. I’m an older guy too and I just want to enjoy my life,” concluded Penn.

Don’t Feel Concerned for BJ Penn

With all the drama surrounding Penn, it’s difficult to judge him as the man he portrays himself to be via his quotes. For a man simply wanting to enjoy life, it’s no coincidence that Penn is fighting court cases and custody battles amidst his last fight in a UFC octagon.

Although lots of MMA supporters around the world seem to be concerned for BJ Penn, he believes that people shouldn’t be concerned for him. When asked if people should be concerned, Penn said

“No, I don’t feel there is. I just gotta keep going.. and don’t give up. Just keep moving forward. I’m not the kind of person to just pick a fight anywhere. All you gotta do is just hang out with me for five seconds and you’ll realize that’s the kind of person I am. I’m not a troublemaker, don’t be concerned.”

So it turns out all of Penn’s troubles wouldn’t exist if the man would have just given him a hug. At least that is what BJ claims. With all the controversy surrounding BJ, are fans willing to forgive him and move on? Lastly, are fans worried about his last UFC fight ever?
