Benson Henderson Give Prediction For UFC 244 Main Event

Benson Henderson is a bit familiar with both Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. Now he gives a prediction on how the UFC 244 main event between them will go.

Henderson is the former UFC Lightweight champ, but has since moved on to Bellator. However, in his run in the UFC rankings, he faced some incredibly tough competition. Of those people, few are as tough as Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

When Benson Henderson fought Diaz, he was in the midst of his lightweight title reign. Subsequently, he dominated Nate, winning by unanimous decision. On the other hand, if you fast forward three years, to 2015, Bendo would take on Masvidal. In what would be his last UFC fight, Benson won via split decision.

As a man who beat both of these fighters, Henderson is interested in their fight against each other. The UFC 244 main event is for the BMF belt, and is highly anticipated. Therefore, before the fight, he wanted to give his thoughts on how it would go.

“I gave the fight edge to Jorge, but that being said, now I’ve had time to think about it and actually process it, I think that matchup-wise, I think it’s a good matchup for Nate’s style. I think Jorge is not going to move as much as he should – he’s just gonna stand there. For Nate to do well, he needs his opponent to just stand there in front of him and let him throw lots of punches. He does well when his punch count is really high. But if you’re not there and he can’t punch at you, his punch count goes down.”

Additionally, he went into more detail, explaining how these two square up.

Henderson explained how he feels that Masvidal has the skills to win the fight. However, he is also the type to play to Nate’s strengths. Nevertheless, Henderson is sticking with Jorge Masvidal.

“He has the skill set – he can do it. But the question is, will he do it? Or will he be like, ‘I’m the baddest motherf—er. We’re gonna stand here, and we’re gonna throw down.’ They could easily do that. If they do that, I’ll go with Nate. If Jorge uses his fight IQ, he has the skill set to beat Nate if he chooses to do so.”

UFC 244 takes place on November 2nd, at MSG. Benson Henderson, like the rest of the world, will be watching closely.
