Ben Askren And Conor McGregor Trade Words On Twitter

Ben Askren is known for being a bit brash with his opinions on other people. One person he recently directed his attention to was Conor McGregor.

Askren is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal, in what is the fastest knockout in UFC history. Subsequently, he is looking to rebound from this loss, and take on Demian Maia. However, ahead of that fight, he decided to give his thoughts on none other than Conor McGregor.

McGregor was watching the UFC 242 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, very closely. When Khabib won by submission, McGregor was quick to speak out about wanting a rematch with the man who handed him his most recent UFC loss.

This is something that Ben Askren found ridiculous, as he made clear by this Twitter post:

“I got hit by 1 errant shot. Lesson learned and won’t happen again! @TheNotoriousMMA got his ass beat for 18 minutes by Khabib and that will happen damn near every time.”

Askren then followed that up, with another message, taking deeper shots at McGregor’s career.

“Let’s be serious @TheNotoriousMMA made too much money to ever have the desire to train at world champ level. He ain’t getting younger those times are gone. Only “glory days” and hot air now”

Finally, McGregor responded, with a short message for Ben.

“Why so serious?”

Subsequently, Askren fired back at this question, taking aim at McGregor’s recent bar altercation, and cell phone smashing incidents.

“Some of us do real work for a living. Not parading around like a drunk asshole punching old people and stomping on phones like a pouty child. Looking forward to an incoherent response”

While Ben Askren is really laying into the former champ, it seems McGregor is not very interested. Nevertheless, do you ever see a possibility of these two men fighting in the Octagon?
