Is there a lot left to say about Jorge Masvidal versus Ben Askren at UFC 239? Maybe. Maybe not. The moment Masvidal’s knee was introduced to Askren’s face, the beef should have been over.
That was the peak of the mountain. The bottom of the ocean. In some deep space black hole is where the soul of Ben Askren fled to. UFC 239 was a five second climax of a multi month story.
Then Jorge danced on the grave of Askren and it somehow became even better. People clutched their pearls at Masvidal celebrating his accomplishment and that is usually a sign MMA is on the right path.
Not the path of “martial arts” but of two people locked in a cage together. MMA is the best when it is raw. Kneeing your opponent and knocking them cold is as raw (real) as it gets.
To top all of these moments off Jorge Masvidal crushed the post-fight interview. Leveling up one more time, Jorge then roamed out and murdered the post-fight press conference. Masvidal cooked up memes in and out of the cage.
The epicenter of Masvidal’s accent to stardom was the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. There is a very good chance that Jorge’s flying knee knockout of Ben will become a ‘remember where you were when’ type of moment in MMA history.
Do you remember where you were when Jorge Masvidal attempted to drive his knee through the back of Ben Askren’s head?
The video below captures the KO and the entire T-Mobile Arena’s reaction to the entire.
