Aspen Ladd has missed weight by two pounds, fight with Sara McMann is off

Aspen Ladd came in heavy for her scheduled bout with Sara McMann. Ladd, who has been notorious for having weight issues came in two pounds over the bantamweight limit. According to MMA Junkie, the bout has been scrapped from the card.

Ladd walked herself to the scale and did not utilize the assistance of “the box” to try and shred the final two pounds. According to reports, she was told to stop cutting weight by the UFC doctor. Ladd has had trouble making the bantamweight limit of 136 pounds for a nontitle fight for some time now. On one occasion she was so weak from cutting that she had to be carried to the scale. This is the third miss for Ladd at bantamweight in her UFC career.

Ladd has fought at featherweight in the past. A previous time she missed weight at 135 pounds, she was asked to move up and took a fight at 145 pounds. it seemed at the time she might remain there but she accepted this bout with McMann at the lower weight class. This bout was a rescheduling in itself. The two were forts matched together back in 2020, but an injury forced Ladd out of that one.

Neither Ladd nor McMann have released statements yet on if they will proceed with rescheduling or not. McMann is a former title challenger who has been with the UFC since 2013. This was to be her 13th fight in the organization. At one time there were talks of Ladd being the next big star in the women’s bantamweight division, but the weight issues and injuries have held her back in recent years,
