Alexander Volkanovski is not interested in talking about Max Holloway, let alone fighting him again.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is not looking forward to the possibility of fighting Max Holloway another time. These two have faced each other three times before with Volkanovski coming out on top all three times. However, Holloway is still doing great in the division and currently working his way back to the top which could lend him another shot at Volkanovski if the champ is able to defend his belt the next time out.

At 145 pounds, Volkanovski has not lost a bout since May 2013. He came to the UFC in 2016 and has been running the table against some of the toughest men to ever have fought in the UFC. He won his title off of Holloway back in 2019 and then again defended it against Holloway immediately. Holloway got another chance at the belt and Volkanovski in 2022 and lost that one as well. Holloway is still a very big star in the UFC and fans want to see him fighting for the title but Volkanovski is less than interested.

Alexander Volkanovski wants fights that excite him and Max Holloway is not it

Volkanovski’s last out was against lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. He decided to move up in weight to challenge for another belt but was unsuccessful. Now he will return to featherweight in his next outing against interim champion Yair Rodriguez. If he is successful against Rodriguez he might be staring down the barrel of a fourth fight with Holloway although that does not entice him at this time. He spoke to The MMA Fan Podcast about this.

“It’s a hard fight to sell, you know what I mean? Three fights, you know, three wins with a guy and then doing a fourth one? And then imagine, what if he does win, what are you going to do? We’re going to have to go another two times?  Obviously, that wouldn’t happen. You know, I definitely believe and proved that I’ve got his number, but it just doesn’t, how do you sell it?” he said. “I want fighter they’re gonna excite me. that doesn’t sound very exciting. It’s not very fun to talk about.”

The UFC has done four fights between fighters before. Most recently flyweights Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo fought for a fourth time. Holloway has worked himself up to the number two spot right behind interim champ Rodriguez. If there was ever a need for a fourth fight it could be between these two. With his last win over Arnold Allen, this might be the perfect time for Holloway to try his hands against Volkanovski one more time.
