- Alexander Volkanovski is down to face Max Holloway again for the BMF title
- “The Great” finds the BMF title as a new goal to stay motivated to fight
Alexander Volkanovski is open to fighting Max Holloway for the fourth time with the BMF title on the line.
Volk found new motivation
Speaking to Fox Sports, “The Great” admitted that Holloway’s stunning knockout win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to become the BMF title has given him a newfound motivation. For Volkanovski, Holloway’s BMF title victory could be a fresh storyline for their fourth fight.
“Would I fight him? I mean, now that he’s got a BMF we might have to do this, you know what I mean? I was always sitting there like, ‘How could you do it?'” Volk said of a potential fourth fight with Holloway.
“But maybe there is that something there you know, there’s a BMF now,” he pointed out. “For me, it’s 3-0, how can you get yourself out of bed for that? A BMF is something I haven’t touched before, so maybe we can do that, you know? So we’ll see what happens.”
Volkanovski vs. Holloway 4 could make sense
While a fourth fight sounds far-fetched for now, Volkanovski vs. Holloway could make sense, especially with the reigning champion Ilia Topuria still undecided about who he wants to fight next. Volk has made it known that he wants to do a rematch with “El Matador” but Topuria insists he wants a fresh challenger.
On the other hand, “Blessed” also aims to fight for the title once again but he doubts if Topuria is ready to take any top contender in the featherweight division.
As it stands, Volkanovski defeated Holloway in all of their three title fights. Volk is currently the No. 1 featherweight contender, while “Blessed” is just right behind him at No. 2.
