Alexander Volkanovski has bashed Henry Cejudo for a viral video of him allegedly firing his coach.

On Saturday night, Feb. 17, the UFC will travel to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, for UFC 298. In the main event, Volkanovski returns to the featherweight division and looks to defend his throne against cocky undefeated title challenger Ilia Topuria

The highly-anticipated matchup between Volkanovski and Topuria isn’t the only reason to watch UFC 298. Earlier in the night, Henry Cejudo and Merab Dvalshvili will go toe-to-toe on the pay-per-view main card, with a bantamweight title shot potentially on the line.

Earlier this week, Cejudo received backlash after releasing a video of him parting ways with his longtime head coach Eric Albarracin. The MMA community was shocked by the footage, as most found the action of recording the emotional moment disrespectful by ‘Triple C.’

During an interview with TheMacLife, Volkanovski had this to say when asked about the situation between Cejudo and Albarracin:

“Is that legit or what? Is this some weird way of marketing that he’s trying to do of promoting?…I just don’t get it in front of the cameras, it’s just so weird. It seems like it’s set up for something…I thought it looked like [Cejudo’s coach] was taking it in. I just don’t get it. You are an absolute prick if you were doing that and just thought this would be good content. ‘I’m gonna make the most of this and go out and do that.’ Henry, if this is legit, you are a piece of sh*t. Let me tell you that right now.”

Cejudo continued:

“That’s crazy to me. I don’t think he’s that much of a sh*t bag to do that. I don’t think he is…Maybe he’s just all about himself, full of himself, doesn’t care about anyone around him, I don’t know. I don’t mind Henry. He’s not that bad…He’s so worried about it’s insecurities, right? He’s so worried about his legacy. He doesn’t want me to do well because I might knock him off.”

Alexander Volkanovski labels Henry Cejudo as a ‘salty, sour individual’

Henry Cejudo has been labeled many things over his combat sports career. Yet, the decision to record himself allegedly firing the beloved Eric Albarracin has brought on a new set of adjectives. During the previously mentioned interview with TheMacLife, Alexander Volkanovski had this to say about Cejudo:

“That just how Henry is. He seems like a salty, sour individual. I’m throwing shade at him, but I don’t mind, it’s the first time I’ve ever properly threw shade, but maybe because it’s because of this coach thing. If that’s legit, it’s just making me think, maybe he is just like that. I don’t know.”

On Thursday night, Alexander Volkanovski and Henry Cejudo will make an appearance at the UFC 298 press conference. It’ll be intriguing to see what Cejudo says about firing Eric Albarracin and how the MMA community reacts if he confirms the footage was not a prank or marketing tactic.
