Gordon Ryan has responded to Nicky Rod’s callout.

After Nick Rodriguez – aka Nicky Rod – won the UFC Fight Pass Invitational, he called out Gordon Ryan to grapple him but said USADA needed to be involved.

“You see this physique right? You’ve got this guy called Gordon Ryan, who keeps accusing me of being on steroids, right? So let’s do this. All the accusations, let’s do a match, 10-minute match, EBI overtime, but with a catch!” Rodriguez said. “Let’s both pass USADA tests before and after competition. Pretty fair right? He’s accusing, I’m showing up and competing! Let’s get it done.”

After the callout, Gordon Ryan spoke to the media and revealed he will only grapple Nicky Rod again in a tournament.

Gordon Ryan fires back at Nicky Rod

“No, I got the jist of it. Everybody wants a payday, right? Me and Nicky Rod will compete again for sure but it’s going to be in a tournament where he gets no relevancy off my name and he doesn’t make any money to losing to me for the third time in a row. I’m sure we will compete again but he’s trying to make the rules… You don’t call the shots and you are not making any more money off my name,” Ryan said to the media. “I’ll compete against him for sure but there’s going to be a time in the future when we compete like ADCC and that will be me going out and embarrassing him again and he won’t get any recognition or money to losing to me. You have to understand, when guys compete against me they make two to three times as much as they usually would competing elsewhere.”

Along with showing no interest in grappling him outside of a tournament, Gordon Ryan also revealed steroids aren’t illegal in jiu-jitsu so there is no reason for him to take a USADA test.

“Well first of all, no, because steroids aren’t illegal in jiu-jitsu, and number two I actually have a contract coming to Nicky Rod for USADA and WADA testing from now until the next ADCC so interesting to see if he is going to sign that,” Ryan concluded.

Ultimately, for the time being, it doesn’t seem likely that Gordon Ryan and Nicky Rod will grapple anytime soon.
