Brazilian Supermodel Gisele Bündchen Earns Her Purple Belt in BJJ After Two Years

Bündchen has been training in the sport since late 2021.

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen has earned her purple belt in jiu-jitsu after just two years of training in the sport.

Her latest promotion took place at the Valente Brothers Academy in Mimi Beach where she trains. Bündchen shared the impressive news via her Instagram stories.

“I am now a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Thank you, Valente Brothers. Congratulations, Valente Brothers, on your 30th birthday. Your discipline and values ​​are inspired.”

Over the years, the blonde bombshell has introduced her family to BJJ and now regularly trains alongside her children. Speaking about her experience with jiu-jitsu, Bündchen says that she feels more confident and empowered since learning how to defend herself. 

“I believe the more tools we have in our toolbox the better. I feel stronger, more confidence and empowered since I started practicing self-defense,” she wrote on social media. “I feel it’s an important skill for all, but specially for us women. Thank you Valente brothers for being awesome teachers and for making training so much fun. I am looking forward to keep improving.”

 

Born in Brazil, Gisele Bündchen began working in the fashion industry as a teenager. She quickly rose to the top of the industry, working with some of the top fashion brands in the world. Before the age of 20, she was posing in major campaigns for brands including Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace.

Bündchen would go on to become the highest-paid model of all time. She currently ranks among the wealthiest women in the entertainment industry. 

BJJ has seen a massive explosion in popularity with multiple celebrities testing out their skills in the art form. Venom and Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy has been seen competing in multiple tournaments over the last several years while Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has also fully embraced the sport. 

Recently, former Miss Universe winner Leila Lopes started training in BJJ as well.
