Nick Rodriguez, also known as Nicky Rod, called out Gordon Ryan once again.

On Sunday, December 10, Nicky Rod was featured on the main card of UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5. The 27-year-old battled Yuri Simoes in the submission grappling match and earned a decision win following the ten-minute time limit.

Rodriguez proceeded to call out his rival, Gordon Ryan, and suggested they each wager $50,000 for a winner-take-all grappling match. Ryan was in attendance as a spectator for the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5, leading to a post-event press conference for the BJJ legend.

When asked about Rodriguez’s callout, Ryan responded with the following quote:

“No [that doesn’t interest me at all]. Nicky Rod and that whole team make their career off soundbites from me, so no comment. Not interested in that at all.”

Nicky Rod and Gordon Ryan competed against each other twice in 2022, with the latter emerging victorious both times. In their second meeting, Rodriguez wasn’t able to secure the win, but he did break Ryan’s foot, escalating their intense rivalry.

Nicky Rod responds to Gordon Ryan saying he calls him out for attention

Nicky Rod has been nearly unbeatable in the past two years, besides his losses against Gordon Ryan and Yuri Simoes, with the latter being avenged on Sunday. Therefore, Rodriguez continues to claim he wants a rematch against Ryan to prove he’s the best on the planet.

During his UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5 post-fight press conference, Rodriguez had this to say when told Ryan turned down his callout:

“Clicks and likes? I’m giving him an offer. I’m betting $50,000 of my own good hard-earned money to say that I’m better than you. 100k winner take all. Gordon’s the kind of guy that used to do bet matches…I don’t see no downside to it besides him losing. Unless he’s scared, unless he knows he’s gonna lose the match, that’s the only reason he wouldn’t accept it…I know that he’s avoiding me. He does not want a match against Nicky Rod.”

Rodriguez had this to say about what he wants next if Ryan turns him down:

“Gordon is number one. If he doesn’t accept, I will gladly put a whopping upon his teammate, Nicholas Meregali. I would like that as number two. If Gordon doesn’t want to accept my match then I’ll take his teammate.”

On Sunday night, Nicholas Meregali was featured in the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5 main event. Meregali faced fellow Brazilian countryman Felipe Pena, with the former winning in impressive fashion by a one-arm rear-naked choke.
