Former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has nothing but praise for Jake Paul.

In Paul’s second pro fight, he fought on Tyson’s undercard when the former champ fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match. Although some were critical of Paul being on the card, Tyson had nothing but praise for him saying he is bringing much-needed viewers to boxing.

“Now we got these YouTubers, 20 million subscribers?” Tyson said at the press conference for his bout against Jones Jr., prasing Paul. “Boxing is coming back thanks to these YouTube boxers.”

Now, as Jake Paul has continued to box and be a massive star, Mike Tyson has followed along with his career and has praised the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Tyson calls Paul his Hero

As Jake Paul continues to headline pay-per-views and bring attention to the sport of boxing, Mike Tyson called Paul his hero and claims that the YouTuber is not a villain as many think he is.

“Jake Paul, he’s not a villain. He’s an anti-hero, not a villain. He does hero s**t but he just doesn’t go by hero’s laws, you know. Listen, he did more for boxing than some of the champions did,” Tyson said on the Netflix docabout Paul. “I’m a fan of people that know how to put asses in seats. Those are the guys I look up to. I like to see him talking s**t, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed cute kid is getting mean, f**k you, you can’t fight, you piece of s**t, that’s beautiful, that sells pay-per-views, you are entertaining us, you’re the champ, you’re my hero”

Jake Paul is set to headline a pay-per-view on Saturday as he takes on longtime UFC fighter, Nate Diaz. It is his first fight since he lost to Tommy Fury back in February by a split decision, which was his first career loss.
