Josh Thomson thinks people don’t realize that Ryan Garcia is far from crazy.

Josh says Ryan proved them wrong

Speaking on his Weighing In podcast with John McCarthy, “The Punk” said people have labeled Garcia as “crazy” because of he was talking about social issues and other stuff outside boxing leading up to his fight with Devin Haney. Thomson thought people expected “King Ry” to lost because his focus was somewhere else. However, Thomson believes that it only motivated Garcia to prove them all wrong.

“He was talking about things that were on his mind he was bringing up things that were important to him and everyone shunned it off that as if he was crazy and they thought that that would have some sort of effect on his fight and his performance. I think what maybe would have had an effect on his fight and his performance is that we didn’t give enough credence to what he was talking about,” Thomson said of Garcia.

“Everyone’s just shucking him off as he’s some crazy guy… People are labeling him as crazy… he’s not crazy. He’s just bringing things that need to be talked about and people are afraid to talk about it because they’re afraid that their credibility is going to be linked to him,” he added.

“When people start talking about it, who knows, I may be one of those people now getting labeled because I’m bringing this up you know, that I’m nuts now and I’m crazy. No. There needs to be something done about this,” he pointed out.

Josh was amazed by how Ryan made millions against Haney

Garcia shamelessly chugged a beer as he went over the weight limit by three pounds during the weigh-ins. For Thomson, it’s one of the reasons why people think Garcia has lost his mind but the fact that he made $12 million in return suggests that he definitely knew what he was doing.

“He missed weight by 3 pounds, he lost I think 1.5 million because it was $500,000 a pound if you missed it… he turns around and bets $2 million on himself and takes in 12 million. I’d say it all worked out,” Thomson said.

Due to the missed weight, Garcia beat Haney but he didn’t become the WBC super lightweight champ. However, he became the first boxer to ever dominate and beat Haney.

Unsurprisingly, Haney and his dad are calling for a quick rematch and they want Garcia to cooperate properly in making weight the next time.
