Former renowned referee and current Bellator color commentator “Big” John McCarthy has taken issue with the performance of Dillon Danis against Logan Paul.

Danis and Paul collided inside Manchester Arena in Manchester, England this past Saturday night (October 14). Paul maintained his distance, while Danis had very little offensive output. Ultimately, Danis resorted to some antic such as daring Paul to enter his guard in their boxing match, attempting a takedown, and going for a guillotine choke.

The takedown attempt earned Danis a point deduction, while the guillotine stunt led to security entering the ring and the fight being ruled a DQ win for Paul.

“Big” John McCarthy Rips Dillon Danis For Poor Showing

“The moving forward, putting pressure I thought was great, but you can’t be a punching bag that has nothing in response to what’s occurring,” McCarthy said on the “WEIGHING IN” podcast.

McCarthy even admitted that he felt there were chances for Danis to capitalize on, but instead “El Jefe” decided to showboat.

“Dillon, he didn’t have hardly any output,” McCarthy said. “Hardly any output. I mean, it was sad ’cause there was opportunities. Logan is not as good as his brother, Jake, as a boxer. Not even close. There is a marked difference and you can see it, and he doesn’t have that much power ’cause he was winging shots as hard as could in some of those scenarios. And you’re looking and you’re going, ‘You’re throwing arm punches, you’re not sitting down on it and throwing that the way it needs to be to deliver the power you want.'”

McCarthy then scolded Dillon Danis for showing up to a boxing match, but not actually trying to box.

“Look, if you’re gonna sign up for boxing, be a boxer,” McCarthy said. “Don’t sit there and try to do a takedown, don’t sit there and try to put someone in a guillotine. Don’t go to your back like, ‘Come into my guard,’ what the f*ck? You’re making yourself look ridiculous.”
