Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz appears to be a success at the box office.

Paul and Diaz are set to box in a highly-anticipated pay-per-view event at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The fight was announced months ago so they could really promote it, and although Paul has been disappointed with Diaz’s promotion, the bout has still garnered a lot of attention.

On Thursday, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotion put out a press release announcing that the event will be the second-highest recorded gate for a combat sports event at American Airlines Center in history. It will only trail UFC 277 which took place in July 2022.

UFC 277’s gate was $4.45 million while UFC 211 also at the American Airlines Center has a gate of $2.66 million so Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz will fall somewhere in between those two gates.

‘It is Remarkable’

“It is remarkable to witness Jake Paul continue to break records. Jake had the highest combat sports gate at Amalie Arena in Tampa Florida, the second highest combat sports gate at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona and now the second highest gate ever at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, an arena that has hosted six UFC PPV events, said Nakisa Bidarian, Co-founder Most Valuable Promotions in a press release.

“With global icon Nate Diaz as his opponent, this event will be his biggest yet and we are already seeing it across the board from media attendance, social media engagement, sold out tickets and commercial pay-per-view buys. The sheer volume of these numbers speaks to Jake’s star power in what is just his eighth fight. Saturday night promises to be nothing short of spectacular.”

Jake Paul enters his boxing match against Nate Diaz coming off his first career loss as he dropped a split decision to Tommy Fury. Prior to that, Paul had picked up a decision win over Anderson Silva and also holds KO wins over Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.

Nate Diaz, meanwhile, is set to make his pro boxing debut on Saturday night. He fought out his UFC contract in September 2021 when he submitted Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279.
