- Jake Paul is confident about taking Mike Tyson out in their upcoming fight
- Tyson vs. Paul has been sanctioned as a pro boxing match
Jake Paul is grateful for the opportunity to face Mike Tyson inside the ring but he is certain he would batter the boxing legend come fight night.
Somebody had to lose
Speaking to reporters at the Formula One Grand Prix in Miami on Monday, “The Problem Child” made it clear that he holds Tyson in high regard for his contributions to the sport of boxing. But while acknowledges Tyson’s legendary status, Paul confidently stated that he is prepared to go to “war” with “The Baddest Man on the Planet” and wouldn’t hesitate to destroy the former heavyweight champ.
“I love Mike. I’m super respectful of him. It’s an honor to be in the ring with him, but I have to end him,” Paul said. ‘’It’s war. All is fair in love and war. I love the guy, but as soon as it turned into a pro fight, one of us has to die. He’s a legend. I love the guy. But at the end of the day, it’s war and you just have to go to war and put it all on the line. I still have the utmost respect for him, and I think he’ll say the same about me and what I’ve done for the sport.”
A highly-anticipated pro bout
As expected, fans and critics alike have been buzzing about the potential outcome of the highly-anticipated boxing match between Tyson and Paul. Many are eager to see if YouTuber-turned-boxing star’s promising skills can match up to Tyson’s deadly knockout power and decades of experience.
Initially an exhibition bout, Tyson vs. Paul has been sanctioned as a pro boxing match. That said, the fight could now be a turning point for both fighters.
Paul is coming off a sensational first-round TKO win over Ryan Bourland. On the other hand, Tyson successfully pulled off his ring return via an exhibition bout with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr.
Tyson vs. Paul will take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium and will be aired live on Netflix.
