The oddsmakers have backed Jake Paul as a big betting favorite over Nate Diaz in a potential boxing fight.
This past Saturday, social media sensation turned boxer Paul faced mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva in the headlining bout at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. He put in a competitive performance and scored a knockdown of ‘The Spider’ to get the nod on the judges’ scorecards by unanimous decision.
Following the biggest win of his career, ‘The Problem Child’ called out Diaz for a match.
Jake Paul opens as a big betting favorite over Nate Diaz in a possible boxing fight
BetOnline posted the odds for a potential boxing clash between Jake Paul and Diaz. Paul opened as more than a 2-to-1 favorite (-260) over the Stockton native, who stood as a +200 underdog. In order to make a profit of $100 on Paul, a bettor would need to place $260. ‘The Problem Child’ believes he has earned the street cred he needed after beating former middleweight champion Silva.
Paul now stands unbeaten as a professional boxer with six wins, including over former UFC champions like Silva and Tyron Woodley. He also holds wins over former MMA champion Ben Askren, whom he knocked out brutally with his signature overhand right hand.
Diaz & Paul have been turning up the heat on their rivalry
Diaz completed the last outing of his deal with the UFC when he took on seasoned veteran Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 last month. He scored a fourth-round submission to beat Ferguson and indicated he would explore free agency next.
Paul has been eyeing a showdown with the 37-year-old MMA specialist for the last few months. Diaz expressed interest in taking him on after becoming a free agent and was in attendance at the arena to support his teammate Chris Avila, who defeated YouTuber Dr. Mike in the opening bout of the undercard.
