- David Benavidez forced Demetrius Andrade’s corner to stop the fight after six rounds
- “The Monster” has called out Canelo Alvarez
David Benavidez was able to retain his unbeaten record by stopping Demetrius Andrade in their super middleweight title match. As early as now, Benavidez already has his sights set on a showdown with Canelo Alvarez.
A consistent performance
Andrade came in aggressive as he attempted to get the better of Benavidez early in the fight. However, “The Monster” was able to handle Andrade’s fury and remained patient. It didn’t take long for Benavidez to get the hang of it as he began landing some power shots and controlling the fight.
In the fourth round, Benavidez finally floored Andrade after landing a vicious right hook to the temple. Benavidez was also able to maintain his pace and his consistent aggression and accuracy resulted in a stunning TKO victory when Andrade’s corner decided to throw in the towel after Round 6.

Canelo has to be the guy
Benavidez’s win saw him retaining his interim super middleweight title. Right after stopping Andrade, “The Monster” immediately called out Alvarez for a super middleweight unification title bout.

With another sensational win, Benavidez established himself as the next-best super middleweight at present after Alvarez. With that in mind, it only makes sense that Benavidez gets a crack at the Mexican boxing superstar.
Benavidez has never tasted defeat in his pro boxing career. He now has a 28-0 record with 24 wins coming by way of KO/TKO. Prior to Andrade, Benavidez outclassed Caleb Plant to secure a unanimous decision win last March.
