Joshua delivered a dominant performance against Wallin in the 'Day of Reckoning' headliner

Anthony Joshua will pursue his third win of 2023 when he steps inside the squared circle for a main event clash with Swedish standout Otto Wallin.

Wallin has been on a roll since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Tyson Fury in 2019. He has scored six straight victories, winning the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title in his last outing against Murat Gassiev. However, he’ll face one of the toughest tests of his career when he meets the 26-3 Joshua who is four months removed from a seventh-round KO of Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena in London.

Round 1

Anthony Joshua comes out with some early pressure and pumping the jab against Wallin. Joshua continues to walk down Wallin before working his way back toward the center of the ring and offering up his own jab. Joshua comes in with a straight right and Wallin responds with a solid counter left that lands. A right jab from Joshua lands, followed by another. Wallin comes back with a left to the body. The round comes to an end with both fighters looking to land in the middle of the ring. 

Round 2

Walling comes out more aggressive in the second round, looking to stand his ground and fend off Joshua’s pressure with the jab. Joshua goes up top with the left hand. Wallin attempts to land with the right and Joshua comes back with the left. Both fighters are standing in the center and staying relatively close. Wallin lands a glancing right hand. Joshua fires back with another left that is just out of range. Joshua uncorks a looping right hand that misses the mark. Wallin dances around avoiding any additional danger as the round ends. 

Round 3

They resume fighting in the center of the ring with Wallin landing a nice short right hand. He attempts to land again and Joshua responds with a left upstairs followed by a right to the body. Joshua throws a left followed by another right as he starts to let his hands go halfway through the round. Wallin responds with a left to the body. A jab from Joshua connects. He offers up a right hand and then blasts Wallin with a left that sends him stumbling. 

Wallin regains his footing and attempts to fire back, mixing up his shots to the head and body. Joshua pours on the pressure and throws a looping right that narrowly misses. Wallin circles out and is content to ride out the remainder of the round on his bicycle.

Round 4

Wallin is sporting a cut under his right eye as Joshua is having his way. Joshua lands a nice hook to start the fourth round. Joshua pressures Wallin toward the corner and Wallin offers up a right hand to try and create some space. Joshua lands a thudding right hand. Wallin throws a left and then a right that Joshua easily avoids. Joshua continues to move in closer and closer, throwing his right hand once again. 

Thus far, Wallin has done nothing to earn Joshua’s respect, but he attempts to change that with a nice check left hook. Joshua responds with a left near the corner that forces Wallin to tie up. Joshua comes back on the break with another right that skims the face of Wallin.

Round 5

Thus far, things are looking fairly easy for Anthony Joshua as Wallin has failed to find his rhythm. Joshua continues his dominance, walking down Wallin and potshotting the Swede with his signature power. AJ lands another right hand but is not offering much in the way of combinations which is allowing Wallin to hang around. Wallin throws a left and is met with a brutal right hand that staggers Wallin

Joshua throws a big right hook with Wallin against the ropes. Wallin tries to come back with a left, but Joshua punishes him with a 1-2 upstairs as the bell sounds.

Wallin makes it to his stool, but his corner throws in the towel as it appears that Wallin’s nose may be broken.
