Paige VanZant Removed From BKFC 27

Initially, VanZant was scheduled to return to the ring against Charisa Sigala. However, MyMMANews reports that the fight has been removed from the card.

It’s expected that the fight between VanZant and Sigala will be rescheduled for BKFC’s October 15 card. The report suggests VanZant vs. Sigala was removed from this weekend’s card in order to headline the October show.

VanZant took to Twitter shortly after the news broke to voice her frustrations with the rescheduling.

“THIS IS OUT OF MY CONTROL!!! I WENT AN ENTIRE CAMP AND WEIGHT CUT TO BE PULLED A WEEK OUT!!!!”

“I DID NOT PULL FROM MY FIGHT!!!! I WAS PULLED! I AM PISSED OFF AND HEARTBROKEN! I WORKED MY F*CKING ASS OFF TO BE PULLED A WEEK BEFORE I AM SUPPOSED TO COMPETE!!!!!”

VanZant hasn’t competed in combat sports since her second BKFC bout back in July of 2021. She suffered a unanimous decision loss to fellow former UFC star Rachael Ostovich. The fight headlined BKFC 19.

With the defeat, VanZant is now 0-2 since making her BKFC debut in February of 2021, where she also suffered a decision defeat. VanZant made a name for herself during her run with the UFC from 2014 to 2020.

There, she became one of the promotion’s most recognized stars, but was unable to put together an impressive enough run to earn a title opportunity.

After her contract with the UFC ran up, she decided to sign with BKFC, as well as All Elite Wrestling (AEW), making her professional wrestling debut this past May in a winning effort.
