Former UFC and BKFC fighter Geane Herrera has been confirmed dead due to a tragic motorcycle accident.

Gone too soon

On Monday, BKFC officials announced the sad news of Herrera’s untimely passing at the age of 33. In the wake of his awful demise in a motorcycle accident in Tampa, Fla., Herrera’s family has initiated a GoFundMe page to raise additional funds for his funeral expenses.

“Our family is devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved Geane Carlos Herrera known in the professional fighting world as “La Pulga”, whose life was cut way too short at only 33 years-old,” Herrera’s family wrote in the GoFundMe. “Geane leaves behind a 16 year-old son, his 3-month pregnant girlfriend, mother, father, sisters, a brother and a family that loves him and will deeply miss him.”

Herrera’s UFC debut opponent Ray Borg was also saddened by the devastating news. He paid tribute to his old foe on Instagram.

“Had the pleasure of sharing the octagon with him in 2015,” Borg wrote. “He was a good guy, my prayers are with him and his family during this tough time.”

A short UFC and BKFC career

Herrera competed in the flyweight division and went 8-0 as a pro before joining the UFC in 2015. After going 1-3 in his four bouts under the UFC banner, “La Pulga” switched to ACB (Absolute Championship Akhmat) where he won his lone fight via submission.

In 2021, Herrera signed with BKFC and secured a knockout victory over Abdiel Velazquez. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the final fight of his career after his family revealed that an injury has already prevented him from competing again.

Herrera died with a pro MMA record of 10-3.

MiddleEasy is sending our deepest condolences to the Herrera family for their loss.
